MoSaF Deptford

All ages

MoSaF is a community group and charity established in 2019 to draw attention to the debt the UK owes to those whose lives were cut short, or forever ruined, by the transatlantic trade in enslaved humans.

MoSaF Deptford honours their legacy by remembering them on a two hour walk tour through our streets, past our public buildings, through our parks and dockyards beside the River Thames in London. London’s position as the country’s first ever slaving port is little recognised.

Alongside the grandure of its palaces and squares, or the prosperity of its financial institutions, there runs another story – one which deserves to be heard.

This walk is for anyone interested in old neighbourhoods of London, social or economic history, Black British or Colonial legacies, abolitionism or human enslavement. The streets of Deptford can be rough and the tour covers quite a lot of ground. Sensible walking shoes are advised as is robust help if you are wheelchair bound.

MoSaF Deptford runs free public walks once a month from April to October, usually on the first Saturday morning of every month. If you would like to attend one look out on Eventbrite or check back here on the MoSaF Deptford website where dates and booking details will be be announced as soon as they are available.
